Solomon Islands: China expanding in South Pacific.

The Solomon Islands has suspended all visits from the US Navy, the American embassy in Canberra says, heightening concerns over the growing influence of Beijing in the region.

It comes a week after a US coast guard vessel was blocked from refuelling in the Solomons capital.

Australian officials were concerned when the Solomon Island signed a security pact with China earlier this year and the latest move by the island nation has been described as "deeply unsettling".

"It is highly unusual," International Security and Intelligence Studies Professor John Blaxland told Yahoo News Australia.


"Particularly because the Australian navy and the US navy have been working directly with the needs of the Solomon Islands."

According to a Tuesday statement put out by the office of Solomon Islands prime minister Manasseh Sogavare, the country has suspended entry into its waters for foreign navy ships pending adoption of a new process for approval of port visits.

This needs to be met with naval power from Australia and the US immediately and not with 1 ship from each country . Its obvious the Biden Afghan disgrace has heightened Chinas thoughts of controlling areas that were free for most of the worlds ships . They shouldn't even discuss this between country's and just do it .
China is testing the free world and we are allowing it . Beat them to a pulp now while we can or lose a lot of soldiers if we do it later .

Given that we have the demented in chief and his laughing side-kick, I would not want to go to war with anyone over anything!

I find it interesting that 80 years ago Britain and the Crown Colonies lost 54 thousand KIA and US 1 million, fighting fascism. Today all of us welcome it with open arms.

the solomons can go to hell. they had a civilwar over who had control of the 26% of the GDP, the gold mine. then they all dug their rain drainages to the gold property. then the mining company wasnt allowed to pump it out because they invoked a stupid law it had to be filtered first.

Excellent advice. Somehow there's doubt that anyone will follow it. Why doesn't the Solomons rid themselves of that insane prime minister?
