Nebraska AG says Farmers Have A Constitutional Right to Repair
For those folks not familiar with the topic, when you buy a John Deere tractor for the last 2 decades, you never really outright own it. Not only that, but you cannot repair it yourself without getting sued by JD!
All repairs must be done by dealers or authorized agents .
JD claims all proprietary rights to everything on that tractor.
In the age of advanced technology where seed rates, fuel consumption, and a host of other things are displayed in the cab comes another worrisome problem.
JD also has all this info. From every seed that went into the ground to every track(acre) covered by the tractor in its lifetime. From every time the AC was used, to every gallon of fuel consumed and it's efficiency rating.
With the advent of GPS, every field can be planted east to west(max sunlight) where applicable.
You dont even have to actually drive the tractor anymore. It drives itself and plants rows GPS without row markers.
But JD long sold out the farmer for info mining, so other agri-businesses like Monsanto and other GMO seed manufacturers could monitor planting rates and herbicides rates.
You can't plant your own seed soybeans out of your storage bin if they were harvested from Monsanto seed beans without getting sued. They say they own the patent.
You can see the theme developing(has long developed over the last 20+years) here in the agri-business sector.
At one time, I'd swear by a JD tractor.
Now I just swear at the poor quality and plastic body.
I'd never consider buying one and haven't for decades.
I don't recommend buying the smaller riding mowers either.
Especially at the box stores. They make cheap mowers just for them. Think wal mart. The mowing decks are thin and cheap as f@ck , and if you don't wash the grass from underneath the deck after every use , you'll have holes in 2 years.
The decks at the dealers used to be much thicker. But I doubt there's any difference any more.
Once the greatest tractors , now reduced to low-quality, spying shit!
And still the most expensive tractor on the market!
Take a few moments to see JD's lame response here.
People should have the right to Repair anything they buy!
Not be blackmailed by the manufacturer of the product!
This JD thing has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time!
No worries, I go Kubota for the last 20 years with great success.
Listen to who supports JD and who supports farmers. You'll be surprised.

I wouldn't be giving them my money.
I was going to ask who the gay guy with the Lightfoot black eyes is, as I thought he was representing Deere, but I think he is the presenter?
