They've had all the chances of getting educated , having doors opened and being helped by being put first for what they say are the sins that we perpetrated throughout our history and I'm calling it bullshit . I can't say that I agree with your comment however, many years ago I was looking for a job to support my then wife and young son. I was told that I wasn't hirable because I was not a minority nor a women. If I was in one of those categories, they would hire me on the spot. It struck me as rather odd that qualifications and experience did not matter, gender and/or ethnicity did.

When I hired for my company there was a federal checklist that needed to meet a company wide % and it even broke down certain nationalities and where they came from . Eskimos and Indians were part of it and even Puerto Ricans were separated from Hispanics . If the Mgr in Alaska didn't hire enough Eskimos than me ,out on long Island had to try to find one to make the percentage before I hired what I really needed .Luckily I was never put in that position . Genders weren't even considered in those days .

All you had to do was find the first person you saw eating an Eskimo Pie and hire them.

When I couldn't adhere to the percentage I just hired anyone . The main office would have to pay the fine and what that money had to do with getting me a Eskimo , I'll never know cause they never sent me any malamuts to help me out . BTW They can't be called Eskimo Pies anymore .
