Hawk...were you on any of the earlier boards?  NewsMax, or Boot to the Skull, or Capitol Hill Coffeehouse?

2C and CJ were both at NewsMax, and I think both were at one or the other intermederies...

Pipes McGee, at BTTS, was a San Diego Border Patrol guy.  His interest in running a conservative board ended when he got into union politics, and probably realized the board was a hot potato.

Chip McLean, who set up CHCH...I believe he died.  I can't confirm it...he reworked his board as Capital Hill Observer, or something like.  Took up the now-common blog style and closed the board.  Then he was writing for News With Views, and I saw a news article about a car crash he was in, where he had received an organ transplant.

Then, nothing.  Gone.  Site's gone.  These days, it's becoming more possible to hide personal data from casual searches...this is becoming common.  

It could be he went underground, but I doubt it.

But, I only bring it up...in how drastically, things change.  The mods, posters, personalities of NewsMax...hanged around at other boards for a time, but they're almost all gone now.

Sorry for the dark turn.  But it's the movement of time...
