Re: Popcorn combinations
Interesting. I've been popping lots of corn lately the old fashioned way on the stove. It's very economical compared to high-priced, microwave popcorn. I've often tried to think of unconventional uses for popcorn. The only one I ever considered was pouring gravy/stew over popcorn instead of rice or pasta.

Re: Popcorn combinations
I wonder if you make a version of rice Krispies treats with popcorn. :)

Yes!! That's what the 'popcorn cake' is. It's pretty good too - easy to just sit and eat the entire thing.
Here's the directions/recipe:
In large bowl, combine 4 qts popped popcorn, 1C dry roasted peanuts, 1C plain M&M's
In saucepan, combine 4 full C mini marshmallows, 3/4C butter, 1t vanilla, and slowly heat/stir until dissolved.
Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn mixture. Mix well. Pack into large, buttered angel food cake pan. Turn out onto plate. A serrated knife cuts this best. Or you could just leave it in the mixing bowl and pull off pieces - no need for any fancy molded shapes.

Re: Popcorn combinations
I am on Ketogenics, so I can't have popcorn at this time.
But, when I do, I usually make a Salted Caramel Popcorn, Cereal, Nut Mix, with almonds, pecans and Cayenne Pepper. Simmer Brown Sugar, Corn Syrup, and Butter with a pinch (Or More) of Cayenne and Vanilla Extract, for 5-6 minutes past boiling, without stirring. Pour Salted Caramel over mixture of Popcorn, Chex cereal of choice, tiny Pretzel Twists, and a cup Almonds and a cup of Pecan Halves. Mix well, and spread out on Parchment Covered Baking Sheet. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, turning it over after 15 minutes. Break it up and enjoy. Works well with Dark Beer.
Or, I pop it in Coconut oil, and add salt and pepper. Sorry to be so boring.

Re: Popcorn combinations
My brother used to pour milk over his popcorn. He probably still does. I don't know.
