Re: O'Keefe's Working Hands and Healthy Feet
I bought that Emu stuff because that baseball player said it works but after I spent $15 for the little jar I realized I ain't a ball player so
It didn't work for me . The OKeefs works great on my hands and I even put it on my forehead because the sun really does a tune on my skin up there . It seems to work .

I don't mind the hand cream and when i run out of one i use the other on hands or feet. Doesn't matter. I do find it a bit heavy though if you know what i mean.

Wearing flops and crocs in wet muddy conditions gives me cracked heels.
By far the most effective and inexpensive cure for me is Wal-Mart petroleum jelly WITH SOCKS!
The petroleum jelly only stays solid until 96f , I think. It soon liquifies and goes right in to your skin. After about an hour you can take your socks off and your heels will be dry but softer. Add some more and put your socks back on. Best to do that at night cause you can't do dat when you are working. Lol.
Now, without a doubt Neosporin or any cheap triple antibiotic works better and faster. But it takes plenty, like petroleum jelly, and it gets to he expensive.
But if you're really hurting, it's the best.

When we were young, i guess our feet were always soft but when you're young, you don't pay that much attention to your feet. Its not till we get older and then your skin becomes more sensitive to the way you walk, the shoes you wear and at some time, i think your feet get more sensitive...maybe from the skin thinning as we get older. I don't know. That's what i'm thinking.

It's the dirt, mud content that seems to really dry things out. I think it was 92 or 93, I was crawfishing in some very pretty(muddy) water. Catching too much crawfish actually.
7-9 hours a day wearing cloth gloves to protect soft, waterlogged, hands against string burn( the water was about 15 feet deep) from lifting heavy traps from the bottom, and crawfish pinches, your hands stayed wet the whole time in that muddy water.
When they dried out, it was bad.
As soon as I'd get back to the landing and put my boat on the trailer, I'd start using Jergens lotion for the hour and a half ride to the market and home.
Tried all kinds of expensive shit! Lol. Nothing came even close to Jergens.
The thing is, I crawfished in the same place for years under the same conditions and never had that problem with my hands again. Lol.
