Support for January 6 Capitol 'Riot' Probe Slips
An emotional hearing this week in which police officers attacked in the Capitol riot testified before a House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6 turned more Americans against the need for the probe, according to a Morning Consult poll.
Among voters of all parties, 53 percent supported the investigation, down from 66 percent in the survey in June and 58 percent just a week ago. Four out of five Democrats were in favor, while only a quarter of Republicans were, along with half of independents.
Only 49 percent of those polled said they had watched all or even part of the committee hearing that dominated the news cycle on Tuesday.
And the survey had more bad news for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who appointed all of the members of the committee, including the two Republicans, Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois: The number of voters who blame former President Donald Trump for the riot fell to 56 percent from 61 percent in June.
The polling comes at a critical time for the investigatory effort as its members, including Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), promise swift action to subpoena witnesses, possibly including Trump administration officials and Republican members of Congress.
Democrats and their two GOP allies on the committee had hoped that the opening hearing, with its at times searing and heartfelt testimony from the officers, would inspire more Americans to demand answers about the riot. Instead the poll indicates the opposite.

Stupid old nanny crone can't get anything right although she neither realizes that nor cares.

If there isn't going to be a real committee or a real investigation, why bother?
This kind of got me:
*Anybody have any idea?
I wanted to say that let's hope investigations don't boil down to whether or not they're popular, but at this point, it's so blatantly lopsided, we ought not bother.
Except there's a wee problem. There's little doubt that the outcome of the trials of all the people who are unConstitutionally being held prisoner depend a good deal on the outcome of this investigation.
I think it's high time I wrote my Senators and Rep. Six weeks to get to them, though. Besides which, according to their emails, both Sen. Boozman and Rep. Womack are sure it was Trump supporters only who were the catalyst and trouble makers at that ...fiasco is the strongest word I'd use to describe it.
This kind of got me:
But I guess it'd be good to know why McCarthy pulled such a seemingly spiteful stunt, before I wring his neck.In response, McCarthy pulled all five of his GOP picks off the panel, leaving only Cheney and Kinzinger, both avowed enemies of Trump, as the sole Republicans, allowing Democrats to call the effort bipartisan.

The mood in this country keeps going right and this type of crap is making it go "far" right . They are either trying to get us to confront them on the streets , which I am 100% in favor of , or these people are brain dead of the pissed off position they have brought the majority of the nation to. They wouldn't be able to survive if 10% of us started confronting them as they are very visible so they must think that we will forgive and forget when the time comes .
This has be consuming the nation and they don't seem to understand our deep dislike of Democrats ,including the ones that are rank and file and live amongst us .

I don't understand people who have Liberal friends. How can you possibly have enough in common to form a friendship?
As for our supposed der leaders, I'd just as soon spit on them, as vote for them. (And yes, I'm talking R's here.)

I don't have friends that are liberal because we choose who we hang around with but its more of a problem with relatives so that's a problem .Ill cut them some slack and they do the same if they're close but there are some that ,because we don't see each other often, we just avoid or are condescending to each other . Don't really give it a second thought cause I just feel bad that they're that ignorant .2cent wrote:I don't understand people who have Liberal friends. She shuffles, she can't focus. she needs to be directed. Remember when she couldn't even get up when the democrat house members took a knee for some stupid freakin' reason a couple years ago. Old Bat could not get up till someone came and gave her a hand. She blamed it on her heels. It wont her heels. She wouldn't have been able to get up in flats either. Old crone.

I don't have lib friends either. Last one i had dumped me in the obama years. Now if she wanted to be friends...it's too late.
family members are another matter. I CUT slack and a couple others do. But some have been downright ugly. The Captain's nephew was almost gleeful in waiting for The Captain's death from Covid in January. We all cut that little twit off social media. He had said when President Trump was elected that republlicans should be shot. He credited his uncle, the captain with that quote with a slight change...'democrats should be shot'. The Captain NEVER said that. The nephew said it. I never want to speak to him again.

Can't say as I blame ya. But yeah, family members, in general, get cut a little slack. (Your nephew being the exception.) But my kids are lucky they're Conservative Republicans. If not, I'd have to disown them. And gladly. (Okay, not quite that gladly.)Calypso Jones wrote:I don't have lib friends either. Last one i had dumped me in the obama years.
