Rain On The Scarecrow
It rained an inch in about 20 minutes at 3am.
I thought you should know this.
Lol. I'm really testing a new category and thread creation.
The story you just heard is true. The droplets were changed to protect the innocent.

It's a big drop in a bucket!
Where I live 7.5" is the years total. The Columbia River flows by my house just 1 1/2 miles away, has a long Columbia Park along it where the Hydroplane races are run every year.
But I like it that way, can use the Swamp Cooler, which is a lot cheaper to run.

I was talking about actual rainfall totals. An inch an hour for 4 hours can be a problem. Even here on the bayou.
When i used to fish crawfish out side the Atchafalaya Basin in the Mississippi backwaters around the Angola( state prison) area, there could be dramatic rises and drops. Even this far south in the widest part of the river.
One day there was a 50 inch rise. Yes, a little over four feet. The next 2 days over 3 feet. In 3 days the Mississippi had risen almost 12 feet. This was already after the river had reached flood stage. It requires a huge amount of water and energy to maintain that for months. Flows at that point were already above 1million cubic feet/second.
The Morganza Spillway is usually opened when flows reach 1.5 million cubic feet/second.
A three foot rise is not uncommon in the Cairo confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers but signals long term flooding on the Mississippi and in the 800,000 acres of Atchafalaya Basin that still remain undeveloped. By federal mandate, 30% Of the Mississippi River's flow must be diverted into the Atchafalaya River at all times , no matter the river stage.
I'm pretty well equipped to deal with flooding.
When the rest of the nation send all its floodwater down here, I turn it into cash. Lol.
It's lot of hard work. Not exactly connected to my degree.
Benjamin Franklin has always been my favorite president!

My first house in Clovis NM had a swamp cooler. My highest electric bill was $35. If you could fix a toilet, you could fix a swamp cooler. I wish we could use them everywhere. Too humid everywhere else I've lived.
We get 40-45" per year in the Dallas area.

I've worked all over Southern LA and dealt with a lot of coon asses. Mostly good people. Back in the 90s, I would spend about 2-3 months/year in and around New Orleans in 2 week rotations with 3-4 other technicians. After Katrina, businesses left and I've only been back there twice for overnight trips. I remember Plaquemines Parish was especially hard to get to. I remember having to take a ferry. I remember going down to Venice to catch the chopper to the platforms, if I was lucky. I always got sick on the boats

Hearing your rainfall totals makes me think of this guy. He gets 11-12" per year of rain and he lives solely on rainwater because he is in a remote part of the Arizona desert.
Edit: Sorry. I meant to quote Sunsettommy.
