I'm not much of a chocolate lover.  (The lovely box of the 32 pieces of Ferrero Collection my husband got me for Valentine's Day, scrumptious as they are, and thoughtful as the gift was, still has 15 chocolates in the tray.)

Chief Joseph once made the statement which I mercilessly butchered " I am old and tired, I will fight no more forever" He was a Nez Perce Chief during the Nez Perce Indian wars in the 1870's died in 1904. I always liked his statement, could not ask for a better epitaph.

I see.  I was introduced to the Nez Pierce in an excellent novel, by Terry C. Johnson, "Carry the Wind."  An intriguing, interesting tribe, that took great pride in creating things; clothing, artifacts, etc., IIRC.  The novel gave the impression that the Nez Pierce preferred peace, but would fight to the death, if need be.

Been a long time ago I read that book, so could be I'm confusing them with another tribe, closely related to the Crow; known for their fieceness.
