Life Before...

I was thinking about what life was like before the fall of man. In our weekly Bible study, we’re reading and studying our way through the book of Genesis. I was going about my regular duties and a thought suddenly occurred to me.

I started thinking about all of the terrible things that mankind has to deal with on an almost daily basis. Certainly in some places there are more of these, in certain places there are less but, some of these exist in virtually every place.

Just imagine what life would be like if there were no illnesses to deal with. No doctors, no nurses, no hospitals, no ambulances, no emergency rooms, no hospice care, no nursing homes and no mortuaries either. Side affects of drugs would not exist and in fact drugs themselves would not exist. No sorrow, no loss, no grief, no pain and no deathbeds ever. Caskets, funeral services, memorial services, Cemetaries and urns would not be needed.

There would be no colds, no viruses, no physical or mental decline, no dementia, no Cancers of any kind and no aging either. Bites and stings would not occur, ever and neither would rashes and other skin anomalies. No Pollution of any kind, no crime of any kind, no assaults, no murders, no baby’s aborted, no thefts, no carjackings, no protests, no riots, no injustices of any kind, no discrimination of any kind, no covert activity of any kind, no hidden anything and no lies either. Transparency, truth and justice would be commonplace.

Casual sexual encounters would not exist. Promiscuity and pornography would not exist. There would be no accidents, no misjudgments and no daredevil antics. As a matter of fact, there would be no taxes, no government regulations and in fact no human government of any kind. This would also mean that there were no politicians and no need for “representation” by the power and money hungry elites either.

Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, storms, lightening, thunder, torrential rains, dam brakes, droughts, famines, sewage backups, etc. would never happen. Homelessness and starvation would not even be thought of.

All of the things I have listed and more are the result of the fall of humans. As the Bible says, “all we have went astray…”. If anyone says that they have no sin, they are lying and greatly misled. As Christians we are in the world but, not of the world.

The taint of sin touches us all. No way to avoid it.
