Re: Guy gets laid off builds this little place in his spare time
I'm trying to understand the point to this.
Because...I have LIVED in a "tiny house" before it was a Thing. Fall of 2009, I rented a cabin at an old-style tourist court just outside St. Ignace, Michigan. Right in the shadow of the Mackinac Bridge.
That "cabin" was a little larger than a toll booth. Now, it was done up very spiffy, with modern paint, wall-coverings, heat...the bathroom was a "wet" bathroom where the shower came on over the commode and sink. The television in the bedroom, a new (then) flat-screen, was mounted into an interior wall, which also enclosed the bed. Surrounded on three sides.
The problem is the temperature variation. Just BREATHING in there, got the air nearly 100-percent humid on cold days. Taking a shower would have everything wet with condensation.
And it didn't go away, because the toll-booth was well-sealed. You started to get mold growing...I think that was the first winter they tried to have their Tiny Cabin occupied (they had four others of various sizes) and it wasn't working.

Odd. My post from last night disappeared.
Why do it? To prove that you could? And do it all 'off grid'? Plus, it's possible that that's all he could afford to build.
Regardless, it was a far more constructive way to spend his time than we've witnessed countless others spend theirs.
It'd make a great little camper for one or two to enjoy a get-away.
