No snow here yet. I’m at Rockport TEXAS. Maybe here there’ll be one of those freak coastal snowfalls of 1 1/2”

Not yet but coming.

I've been here eleven years, now, and this is the latest I've seen it coming. Odd.

I'm happy enough it hasn't, but it's odd.

Yeah, I remember snow as a kid, too. Two things: First, I didn't get cold, as a kid. I'd be out in the snow all day, weekends and Christmas breaks. Even older, in my twenties, I could spend the day on our local (SW NY) slopes, and not get the chills.

When I was 19, 20, I rented a resort home, off-season, close to work. Furnished, $100 a month. But I had to pay the heat, which was electric.

I'd save money by turning the heat down to 55 and leaving it. Just put on a flannel shirt, and I learned to be comfy. The furningshings included an electric blanket, which I made liberal use of.

That changed...oh, I don't know. I spent four years in California; and then two years in Denver. I remember not liking the snow so much, there - but there wasn't as much of it. Denver winters were overrated - it's as temperate as Louisville; it's just that the thin air (5200 ft) lends to VIOLENT temperature swings. When a storm comes over the mountains and settles in the valley there, it really dumps.

Then, on back home to Ohoho...where my first winter on the ray-rode, I worked nights in the yard. Not happy times - the work was okay, even fun at times, but the wet cold feet, just blew. I was delighted when promoted and put on the road - it meant less ground work. Also meant no regular sleeping, but I didn't know how I'd fare with that.

Now I just can't take it. I absolutely DREAD it.
