Interesting point. I remember talking to my dad about this stuff at least 40 years ago. People were being urged to have less children and I felt that if the most intelligent people in the world (who is in that group might be up for question) became responsible and had fewer children, we would soon be overrun with the ignorant unwashed savages in the world who had a gazillion children each. It seems that is coming to pass.

I had five kids (I know. I shoulda gone for at least 12 since I carried them and birthed them easily) and I determined they would be educated enough to know where and how to find information and to be curious about everything. Well. That wasn't enough.

That said. I wonder why the Muslim birthrates were not addressed? That is hugely important.

Haven't read the article yet; but I'll go out on a limb and dabble with an answer.

First, the Man makes the Culture. Show me a backwards culture, in this day and age, and I'll show you a backward population with low-IQs, impaired reasoning. The limited mental wattage keeps them from working out the impaired reasoning; but there is a political elite class (there always is!) ready to continue to feed the flawed thinking to the public.

In the Moslems' case, it's of course the mullah class. Both Protectors of the Faith and interpreters of law - they decide both moral and legal questions, and OF COURSE they have what you might say is a vested interest.

There is also quite a bit of inbreeding in Moslem societies. First marriages, the ones most likely to bring children, are often to cousins. I don't know what they think about sister-brides, but cousins are still too close genetically. That creates weaknesses - look at European royalty.

They have a lot of children, live in a Seventh-Century culture that is arrested in growth by the clergy; the populace is kept ignorant and illiterate; their greatest hope is Paradise and the 73 Virgins.

And they're going to be the dominant population. ARE they gonna be able to feed themselves, once the West dies off enough that even misanthropic leaders stealing our food to send to them, isn't enough?

Islam is a pox on humanity. As bad as Communism. BOTH are palpable risks to our survival as a species.

Scanned the article; read portions of it.  The author seems to be writing for his Liberal or Woke peers, and gaining approval from whoever sits above him, socially or on whatever research department or think-tank he's on.

He pulls out a bunch of tropes; I tuned out when he marveled that the "overpopulation" problems never came to be.  They never came to be because that was a scare campaign, knucklehead!  It was ALL LIES.

To get us to where we are now.  This is the Left's utopia - where we kill off the Deplorables, until there's just us, and finally just me.  And the last person sits there, too old to hunt, starving to death.  He'll be thinking nothing of the beautiful, beautiful world without people.

The writer wonders if there isn't a hard-wired urge to replace one's self.  There is, shitferbrains.  It's instinct, or, if you like, God.  If you REALLY like, Allah.  Or Gaia.

But the urge is there.  It's not being demonstrated now, because social-engineers have confounded expectations of men and women of each other; they've aggressively promoted homosexuality as preferable.  Abortion is a badge of honor.  Having a child is somehow shameful and low-intellect.

This is ARTIFICIAL, kept alive by eggheads like this fool.  When the population declines, the surviving young people will find the world a lot bigger, the distances greater.  And with less time to explore it.

Sounds a tragedy, but it won't be.  Their social influence will again be their parents and neighbors and community.  Who will again urge them to act in harmony with nature - to pair off and mate and create children.

Long after this fool's government-funded blathering is forgotten.
