well.  That'll be a party just like the democrats...where the elites make all the decisions...While dems still have rank and file kool aid drinkers...what's Pence's AAF gonna have...cause Trump supporters and fed up conservatives (fed up with the cowardly stab you in the back repunks) will not be a part of it.

Mike Pence stuck his head up this week to take a whack at Trumpism, urging Republicans to reject “protectionist tariffs” and “isolationism” while “unashamedly” recommitting to anti-abortion positions.

It’s a sign of what he’s up to behind the scenes as well.

The former vice president is laying the groundwork for a party that could move on after the election from Donald Trump’s populism and protectionism. Sometimes that means being a rare voice of public dissent, at other times it means quietly trying to recruit allies to his cause who might be more willing to join him on specific policy or political fights.

AD

“We’re trying to plant a flag for conservatism and believe that many of our traditional conservative groups have become far more enamored with populism these days and walked away from those principles,” Marc Short, Pence’s longtime advisor, told Semafor.

The former vice president’s Wall Street Journal op-ed taking veiled shots at Trump’s policy priorities is just a hint of what Pence is thinking as he waits for the 2024 election to play out. But the big question for Pence is: Is there still a place for him in today’s GOP?

The answer isn’t even clear to his fans: Pence doesn’t fit into “the Republican party of today,” said Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney. “The Republican Party of tomorrow may be a different matter.”

What?? they think they can call the old party a new party and we are going to fall for that BS.

Well. Mike...go EFF yourself with bows on.

“The Republican Party of tomorrow may be a different matter.”

Yes, it will be less NeverTrumpy than ever.

I realize cuckservative types do not understand how power works. A lot think Trump needs to "earn" their vote. That is wrong. He doesn't owe you anything. You either have the option of voting to get your seat at the table, or you can continue getting marginalized. You get your agenda passed by contributing to which ever party you vote for. Democrats are at least smart enough to understand this.

If Trump doesn't win the election or he wins but isn't allowed to take office, I will not pay attention to politics anymore.

I walked away from watching MSM (ABC,CBS, NBC) news many years ago.
I walked away from watching news networks (Fox, Newsmax, OAN) several years ago. I can walk away from politics completely if it comes to that.

I don't need the aggravation that will come if Kamala is President.

I agree with you on walking away from politics if Kamala wins. I don't watch MSM news at all. I do watch Fox.

I can certainly understand where you are coming from but, let me add this. If Kameltoe and Tampon Timmy do "win" it will be by fraud, subterfuge, manipulation and brainwashing. If they "win" it will be even more important to pay attention because the illegal activities will increase, the defund law enforcement movements will increase, our military will continue to be "woke" and prices and interest rates will continue to skyrocket. In short, you will have nothing and you will be happy or you will be "re-educated". Under a Kameltoe regime, Communism will continue to flourish, employment will go down, government benefits will increase and taxes will increase. If we have another Communist regime, I look for the U.S. to be attacked and I look for our enemies to be encouraged.

The damage that Bribem has done will pale in comparison to what a blatant Communist will do once there is a regime change.

I don't think we'll be Walking away...that implies choice on our parts.  We will be keeping our heads down to try to keep them from taking our kids, making them go to gov't schools cause they WILL close down private schools.   They will attempt to take our guns.  I don't know how that will go. high confiscatory taxes worse than now. Foreclosures, we won't own anything. digital currency to keep up with us. limited movement, you can't get away from it. racial tension and attacks. Their everyday supporters will be more aggressive against the enemy...us.  They will continue to go after Trump and they'll go after us too.    They'll successfully kill the repub party...and personally  i predict assassinations...oh..they'll be called suicides or attempted robberies gone wrong or people will just plain disappear.

Pence is looking for political power "after Trump"?

He'd better start looking for other work. If the election is stolen, what we have is absolute lawless, amoral tyranny. A government where all the checks of the Founding Documents and Christian morality are removed. NO checks on personal behavior or official acts. A nation whose Elite Leadership Class is nothing but sodomites and pedophiles and other deviants.

We will have - DO have - a nation where the CIA assassinates foreign leaders, American citizens, political opponents, with impunity. A nation where the FBI has become a lawless political-persecution body. A nation that prints money madly to create and fund pointless wars, pays to have the public poisoned, have the food supply reduced to toxic filth...this COSTS, and they do it with that printed-up money. For some indescribable reason, the world hasn't realized that this is no different than Zimbabwe's fake currency.

The government is declaring war on its subjects; and its subjects will have to answer. And Mike Pence will be an easy first target.

From the OP article:
The answer isn’t even clear to his fans: Pence doesn’t fit into “the Republican party of today,” said Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney.
And Romney thinks he does?

A little more:

He’s [Pence is] leaning into that, and trying, with the help of his group Advancing American Freedom (AAF), to be the GOP’s “conscience” of sorts, as the organization’s president Tim Chapman put it. It’s welcome news for the coterie of Republicans who, like Pence, find themselves on the outside of the party’s populist bent.

“There’s room for his voice and the voices of others, for this reason: Our party is, at this point, mostly a political coalition in search of a clear policy agenda,” said Sen. Todd Young of Indiana, a Republican who has not endorsed Trump. “At some point we’re going to have to gravitate around a clear policy agenda … And Mike Pence is very well equipped to do that.”

No, Mike Pence is NOT "well equipped to do that." If he were, he'd still be standing up for the Conservative Crowd that Trump and company represent.

In the end, it's becoming more obvious by the day that the Republican Party is disfunctional, due to so many self-proclaimed "Republicans" having no idea what a Representative Republic is.
