Count on it. When the people are broke, and they cannot print money - or they can, but nobody wants it, because it's valueless - a LOT of idiocy is going to stop.

Even in banana republics, the only time they have high-paid government ministers and court hangers-on, is when the USA comes in with "loans" that are never expected to be repaid. Even the USSR survived that way - we bailed them out, twice; in 1938, and again in 1974 or so. Grain "sales" (gifts) kept them going another 16 years.
