one time we went to this place in north carolina because there are gemstones in the water adn all over....might have been hickory, nC. We had a lot of fun and learned from the feel of the rocks which were likely to contain some kind of gemstones. I loved walking in the water.

my last gemstones i will be receiving will consist of 85 cts of some stuff. i will boast upon getting my last four mail parcels. ( the most expensive red diamond at 3.5ct was purchased as a garnet and the guy mailed it to the Smithsonian uninsured. )

never heard of a red diamond. I"ll look it up. I do like garnets.

That Red Quartz... you say it is rare. where do you find them.

there are less than 60 red diamonds known in the world today. 52-55 might be more exact. red quartz is the edge material of some yellow quartz, which is itself worthless. citrine ( red quartz ) has been found in brazil. its ALL been cooked to a brown and orange coloring to give citrine its orange glow.

oh..i have citrine. Just so i understand. Are you saying  all citrine is red quartz?

i shall qualify. red quartz is NEVER heated. EVER. you citrine isnt red. its brown or orange or yellow. MOST " citrine " is either cooked citrine or cooked amethyst. you can find all the red citrine on planet earth in less than 9.1887 lbs. of material.

i edited my opening post. about the garnet. i have collected some garnet too. that reddish black 2ct cut garnet was misidentified as comming from madagascar. its actualy from Latinka Bulgaria.

9.1887 lbs is how much unheated tanzanite there is. red quartz is even rarer. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY tanzanite until YOURE POSITIVE its unheated. unheated tanzanite has " red " blue AND violet in it. if it doesnt have ALL THREE in it, its heated. the proper terms are trichroic and dichroism.
