I think it has something to do at being at odds with his constituency and the party especially as what matters to his vote for impeachment of the President and his later remarks. The guy is a carpetbagger....they supported him in the beginning and now they're paying for it.

As it turns out, Romney was NOT censored by the Utah Republican Party, but rather, by  the Utah Platform Republicans PAC.

On Monday, the Utah Platform Republicans PAC issued a resolution to censure Sen. Romney for his impeachment vote. A release says the PAC “requires that public officials be held accountable and asserts Sen. Romney’s votes were ‘unjust and unethical.'”

IOW the Utah Republican Party are squishes who have no comprehension of what causes division within a political party.


As somewhat of an aside, the article also quotes this statement from 

The Utah Republican Party released a statement to ABC4 after the petition began drawing attention, saying, “Any national petitions making the rounds online have nothing to do with the Utah Republican Party. As a party, we are focused entirely on unifying around Republican Party principles, as discussed in our official statement.”

The Weber County Republican Party voted to censure Sen. Mitt Romney on Saturday, one week after the Utah GOP narrowly voted down such a measure, when Romney was booed off stage.



A resolution to censure Romney over his votes to convict President Donald Trump at his impeachment trials was passed 116-97 by members of the Weber County GOP, according to Party Secretary Jill Koford.



“The Weber County Republican Convention censures Mitt Romney for his votes to convict President Trump in two U.S. Senate impeachment trials which denied the President due process, allowed falsified evidence, did not provide adequate time for an investigation, and did not follow the U.S. Constitution which states a President may only be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors,” reads the resolution.



It also thanks Sen. Mike Lee and Reps. Chris Stewart, John Curtis, Blake Moore and Burgess Owens “for voting against the Democrats’ politically motivated articles of impeachment.”



The resolution says that voting to convict a former president “without sufficient evidence” is “unjust and unethical.”


This is all connected to the fact that Romney was booed off stage the same week at UTAH GOP convention.

In the end, each of our senators voted differently.

Our senators have both been criticized for their vote. The differences between our own Utah Republicans showcase a diversity of thought, in contrast to the danger of a party fixated on “unanimity of thought.” There is power in our differences as a political party, and we look forward to each senator explaining their votes to the people of Utah.

Disagreement is natural and healthy in a party that is based on principles—not on persona. In fact, those principles are the reason behind unprecedented American prosperity during the last four years.

Last November, Utah Republican candidates experienced incredible success because thousands of voters joined our party, inspired by our guiding principles. These people are so lost, it's had to know where to begin.  They actually believe that they, and their so-called "guiding principles" is what garnered Republicans so much success in 2016 & 2018.  
Note:  ZERO mention of WHO was actually responsible for attracting so many voters to the Republican Party.  

Considering they don't even have the facts in hand of what transpired on Jan 6, maybe the above should come as no surprise.  
Couple that with complete their lack of comprehending the message of Ronaldus Magnus:  HINT:  There's a vast gap between differences and approaches to meeting your goal, and having TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GOALS  - and it's a no wonder the GOP is a mixed-up mish-mash with NOT ONE UNIFYING MESSAGE.

There is no leadership, because they don't know what they stand for.  

"Guiding Principles."  Okay.  State them.

I think that censure means that he does not get free ice cream at the airport for a week.
