Evert night before I go to bed, I check both doors to make sure that they are locked. I don't do that because I "hate" anyone, I do that because I love the people in my house and do not want it to be easy for a criminal to just waltz into my house in the middle of the night.
I keep a loaded firearm by my bed for the same reason. Border security has NEVER been about "hate" but about safety and security for the American people.
