Severe Animal Grief
Speck has left us. Cancer had eaten him up. Michelle, the other cat spent her life beating Speck up, stealing his food, throwing him out of bed and generally tormenting him. Now, she is suffering horribly. She isn't eating, she lays on his chair, moans and cries. Her grief is enormous. I don't know what to do.

This little cat i've had to adopt, she suffered for months...6 almost 7 over losing her male buddy cat. He has not returned. Instinctively i know what his fate probably was but i don't want to think about it. She's come around. She wants my attention, craves it. They grieve..like we do.

Not so soon. Let her grieve, give her lots of love and attention and let her find her place first.

Re: Severe Animal Grief
I came across a beautiful white cat seriously grieving the loss of her owner who passed away. I adopted her because I thought that no one ever would. She would sit looking out the window as these great tears rolled down her face. I tried everything. I had her about a year before she died. She just grieved herself to death. Michelle isn't eating. Not even treats. She has gone from fat cat to bony. I'm worried.

From a cat expert - smelly warm food may help.
Lots of pats and quiet loving attention can make them feel better and stimulate their eating.

Re: Severe Animal Grief
Michelle is off to the vet on Saturday. Just a check up. Maybe some mood elevators.
Meanwhile..... my daughter-in-law's daughter has a pit bull that found and rescued a litter of kittens. Coco, the pit bull, cares for orphaned kittens through a cat rescue, but this litter she found herself in a box. Jan brought two kittens over so son and daughter-in-law can pick one. The boy is black and white. The girl is black like Speck. The boy was an instant yes, but the girl. Odd, she attached herself to me like velcro. Instantly. First sight.

A kitten did that to me too decades ago. I took him him in one of my shirt pockets.
He was a lovely cat.
